INTERNATIONAL MBA PROGRAM: LEARNING STRATEGY FROM BUSINESS PRACTICES

This morning, March 14, 2026, I was delighted to lead MBA students from the international Master’s program between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) on a field trip to Trung Quy Group in Long An.

This company visit is part of the Strategy Consulting course requirement, allowing MBA students to not only learn theory in the classroom but also directly observe, analyze, and exchange ideas with real-world business leaders.

A unique aspect of this trip is that the students did not simply tour the company, but approached it with the mindset of strategic consultants at the MBA level.

During their work with Trung Quy Group’s leadership team, students will:

+ Prepare strategic questions for management consultation.

+ Conduct structured inquiries to understand the business model and operations of the company.

+ Identify strategic issues facing the company.

After the trip, each student group will develop a complete strategic analysis, including:

+ Strategic Diagnosis

+ 2–3 Strategic Alternatives

+ Recommendation & Trade-offs

+ KPI & Strategy Monitoring Mechanisms

The groups will present their results to the class, lecturers, the Chairman of Trung Quy Group, and the COO of Trung Quy Group, as a standard consulting strategic advisory.

We sincerely thank Mr. Quy and the leadership of Trung Quy Group for their support in providing resources, organizing workshops, and creating opportunities for MBA students to learn directly from the practical realities of Vietnamese businesses.

This is the spirit of the international MBA program:
Learning strategy not only from textbooks, but also from the actual meeting rooms and production lines of businesses.
